LIVESTRONG® at the YMCA is a small-group program that helps adult cancer survivors reclaim their health and well-being following a cancer diagnosis. Through this program YMCAs are creating communities among cancer survivors and guiding them through safe physical activity, helping them build supportive relationships, and reducing stress – leading to an improved quality of life.

The program consists of group exercise using cardio equipment and strength training machines, guest speakers, and more, all in a support group atmosphere. The program is open to the public and will be free of charge.
To become a part of this session participants need to be 18 years old and up. Participants with any type of cancer are welcome. They may be going through treatments or not — may even be long time cancer survivor that needs help getting back to their normal life.

Personal training can make the difference in the success of your fitness program. If you need that extra motivation and one on one attention, we are here to help. Your trainer builds an extensive health history and fitness assessment to determine your goals and then guides you through a personalized program. Prices available upon request.
The Youth Wellness Orientation will introduce your child to the Wellness Center and inform them on how the YMCA fits into their goals of becoming a healthier person. This will be a onetime class incorporating wellness etiquette and equipment use into the curriculum. Participants in the 10-12 age range are allowed to use the Wellness Center (excludes free weight area) under the supervision of a parent/ guardian and 13-14 age range may workout independently. Participants must be the required age at time of registration. Maximum number per class is 10 participants.

The Cordova Family YMCA is proud to offer 4 courts for tennis lessons, clinics, tournaments, and family fun. Courts are available on a first come first serve basis EXCEPT when reserved by the Tennis Director. If you do not have your own equipment you can borrow rackets and balls from the Welcome Center in exchange for an ID or keys.

Our Certified Personal Trainers are licensed YMCA professionals who want to help you meet your fitness goals. After working out with a personal trainer, you’ll see a difference not only in your body, but also in your spirit and mind. Shortly into your workouts, you will start to see and feel changes that will have a positive impact on how you feel about yourself, as well as increased energy. Also, working with a personal trainer helps take the guesswork out of your exercise. We offer one hour individual, buddy (2 people), and group (3 or 4 people) training.

Pickleball is a fun game that is played on a badminton court with the net lowered to 34 inches at the center. It is played with a perforated plastic baseball (similar to a wiffle ball) and wood or composite paddles. It is easy for beginners to learn, but can develop into a quick, fast-paced, competitive game for experienced players.

Karate may be defined as a weaponless means of self-defense. It consists of dynamic offensive and defensive techniques using all parts of the body to their maximum advantage. Karate as self-defense is one of the most dynamic of all the martial arts. The values of Karate are numerous. It provides exercise for both our mental and physical health and also tones the body, develops coordination, quickens reflexes, and builds stamina.
