The Davis Y has many activities and classes designed for YMCA members 50 & Up. Join us for special events and outings, health screenings, and healthy living seminars.

Land & Water Classes
These classes are FREE with your membership. SilverSneakers® is the nation’s leading fitness program designed exclusively for older adults.

Get Started at the Y

To help you reach your Wellness Goals, we want to understand more about you. We offer several options to help us get to know you.

FREE WELLNESS GOALS MEETING/FITNESS ASSESSMENT

Meet with one of our Personal Trainers to discuss your goals to become healthy. Learn the operations of the Wellness Center as well as instruction on how to use the cardio and strength training equipment with safe and proper technique. Your meeting may also include basic fitness tests as chosen by you to assess your current health level. Ask the Welcome Center about how to make your appointment.

NEW TO FITNESS EQUIPMENT ORIENTATION

An introduction on how to use our cardio and strength equipment with safe and proper technique. FREE for members.

PERSONAL TRAINING

Personal training can make the difference in the success of your fitness program. If you need that extra motivation and one on one attention, we are here to help. Your trainer builds an extensive health history and fitness assessment to determine your goals and then guides you through a personalized program. Prices available upon request.

LIVESTRONG® at the YMCA

TAKING ACTION. CHANGING ODDS.

LIVESTRONG® at the YMCA is a small-group program that helps adult cancer survivors reclaim their health and well-being following a cancer diagnosis. Through this program YMCAs are creating communities among cancer survivors and guiding them through safe physical activity, helping them build supportive relationships, and reducing stress – leading to an improved quality of life.

Begins: February 13th, 2017
Days: Mondays & Thursdays
Time: 2:00 p.m.
Location: The YMCA at Schilling Farms
Duration: 12 weeks
Cost: Free of Charge

The program consists of group exercise using cardio equipment and strength training machines, guest speakers, and more, all in a support group atmosphere. The program is open to the public and will be free of charge.

To become a part of this session participants need to be 18 years old and up. Participants with any type of cancer are welcome. They may be going through treatments or not — may even be long time cancer survivor that needs help getting back to their normal life.

Get Fit Fitness Program

weights-manA personalized program designed specifically for adults who are new or returning to exercise, this program prepares an inactive individual to begin exercising and then helps that individual to maintain an exercise program.

Wellness Meetings: Assessments & Consultations

Developed through 150 years of experience and professionalism in the spirit, mind, and body arena, YMCA Wellness Meetings are a FREE service ($75 value) with your active YMCA membership. Meetings may involve any and all components as determined by the member, including:

Assessments

  • Health screen/medical release (if necessary)
  • Resting heart rate
  • Body composition
  • Cardiovascular fitness (3 minute step)
  • Height
  • Weight
  • Blood Pressure
  • Flexibility (sit and reach)
  • Strength and endurance (1/2 sit-ups / 1/2 pushups)
  • Consultation

Consultations

  • Cardio equipment demonstration
  • Workout program set-up
  • Target heart zone
  • Aerobic exercise
  • Strength training equipment demonstration
  • Stretching
  • Follow-up

Re-evaluation recommended every three to six months to:

  • Adjust your goals and program design
  • Chart your progress throughout the year
