Couch To 5K Running Club

Join the Running Club hosted by Ric Nuber YMCA and get in shape! The club will meet Thursday nights beginning July 27th to train together and finish with the graduation 5K race September 4th!

2017 Youth Sports Injury Prevention Symposium

Presented by Campbell Clinic and the Campbell Foundation

Date: Saturday, July 29, 2017
Time: 7:30 a.m. – 1:00 p.m.
Location: Bryan Campus Life Center at Rhodes College

Cost: FREE

This half-day course will focus on injury prevention, recognition and management of injuries when they happen, and guidelines for safe return-to-sports. Topics will include common sports injuries, concussion, heat illness, injury prevention, overuse and sport specialization. It is ideal for athletic directors, coaches, trainers, administrators, parents, and others who work with adolescent youth involved in organized sports. Training for concussion and heat illness will be provided.

Summer Swim Lessons

At the Y, we believe that the ability to swim is a critical life-saving skill for every child, teen and adult. In group swim lessons we use a variety of fun methods to help kids overcome fears, build confidence in the water and develop skills that last a lifetime. Qualified instructors meet kids at their own level, help families set achievable goals, and celebrate success.

Swim Starters (Ages 6 months – 2 years)

Members: $25   Non-Members: $55

Our Swim Starters class is the perfect introduction to swimming. Sessions include four 30 minute classes over a four week period. Fridays at 11:00 a.m. or 6:00 p.m.

Preschool (Ages 3 – 5)

Members: $50   Non-Members: $80

All summer sessions will run Monday – Thursday for two weeks for a total of 8 classes. Each class is 30 minutes long.
Swim Basics       10:00 a.m.,11:30 a.m., 3:45 p.m., 5:15 p.m., 6:00 p.m.
Swim Strokes     Session I & III: 10:45 a.m., Session II & IV: 4:30 p.m.

Saturday Session: June 10 – August 5

Solutions Mentoring Program
Are you looking for a way to give back to your community? Do you see young people in our community who get into trouble because their home life is not ideal? We have your way to better a young person’s life through our solutions mentoring program.
Teaching 1,000 Kids To Swim
We’ve already taught 350 kids to swim in 2017! If we’re going to reach our goal, we need your help! Sign up for swim lessons or invest in our community so those who need financial assistance can receive the life-saving skills!

Krav Maga Self-Defense

Have you considered taking a self-defense class but couldn’t find one to fit your skill level? Krav Maga is a reality-based self-defense class that can be used quickly and effectively by anyone. The skills learned are easy to remember and are highly effective in protecting oneself from harm.

Flying Fish Swim Team

First Week FREE!

Ages: 6 – 12

The Millington YMCA Flying Fish Swim Team is a developmental swim team that focuses on introducing children to competitive swimming. They will be taught competitive swim strokes, as well as, starts and turns. The Flying Fish are a part of the Mid-South Swimming League and compete in monthly swim meets at different facilities in the Memphis area.

Practice Time: 5:30-7:00 p.m.

  • Practices Monday, Wednesday, and Friday from 5:30-7:00pm
  • We take new registrations daily and we practice year round.
  • All swimmers should have general knowledge of all 4 competitive swim stokes.
  • All swimmers must be able to swim the length of the pool without stopping.
  • Specific technique, diving starts, and turns will be taught during practice.

Fees:  Member/Millington Resident $55 monthly
Non-Member $80 monthly
