YASA Mentoring Program

Lifeguard Training for Ages 14 – 15

New to the Millington YMCA, this volunteer program is aimed toward area 14-15 year old students who are interested in becoming lifeguards. Candidates in the program will assist lifeguards on deck with various activities for at least one shift per week.

During Millington Spring Break

February 27  6:00 – 8:00 p.m.
March 13  9:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.
March 18 – 19  9:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.

During Tipton Co. Spring Break

March 13  6:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m.
March 27  9:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.
April 1 – 2 9:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.

Cost: $120 members/ $170 nonmembers

**participants must be 14 years old by the last day of the course and attend all classes.

Be Someone’s Hero

Lifeguard Training

Begin the process of becoming a YMCA certified lifeguard through our life guard/professional rescuer course. Those who pass the course will be certified in CPR, First Aid, and emergency oxygen. Physical skills must be passed prior to the class.

During Millington Spring Break

February 27 from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m.
March 13 – 17 9:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.

During Tipton County Spring break

March 13 from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m.

*participants must be 16+ and must attend all classes

All Day February 22nd

Join in on the party at BWW in Millington as we celebrate the YMCA! A portion of the proceeds will go toward helping kids in our community participate in sports and other programs! Pick up a “ticket” at the welcome center or tell your server that you’re with the YMCA!

Join our 30-day Wellness Challenge. This 15 Workout Challenge will earn you a free Y t-shirt and keep you motivated all through February!

CHALLENGE GUIDELINES:

  • Complete 15 Workouts between February 6th and March 6th
  • Minimum of 30 Minutes = 1 Workout
  • Maximum 1 Workout Per Calendar Day
  • Age 10 & up

Directions: 

On your phone, go to the Apple Store or Google Play Store to download our app. Search for YMCA Memphis or Memphis Workout to find the app with white “Y” logo and purple background by Netpulse Inc.

Homeschool PE

Our program follows the Tennessee education system guidelines for physical education as closely as possible. The goal of physical education classes for students is to have planned individual and cooperative physical activity and fitness assessments promoting the students’ optimum physical, mental, emotional, and social development.

Ages: 5 – 17 years
Days: Tuesdays & Thursdays
Time: 12:00 – 1:00 p.m.
Session I: January 10 – February 16
Session II: February 21 – March 30 (No class March 13 – 17)
Session III: April 11 – May 8

Flying Fish Swim Team

First Week FREE!

Ages: 6 – 12

The Millington YMCA Flying Fish Swim Team is a developmental swim team that focuses on introducing children to competitive swimming. They will be taught competitive swim strokes, as well as, starts and turns. The Flying Fish are a part of the Mid-South Swimming League and compete in monthly swim meets at different facilities in the Memphis area.

Practice Time: 5:30-7:00 p.m.

  • Practices Monday, Wednesday, and Friday from 5:30-7:00pm
  • We take new registrations daily and we practice year round.
  • All swimmers should have general knowledge of all 4 competitive swim stokes.
  • All swimmers must be able to swim the length of the pool without stopping.
  • Specific technique, diving starts, and turns will be taught during practice.

Fees:  Member/Millington Resident $55 monthly
Non-Member $80 monthly
