Healthy Kids Day

YMCA’s Healthy Kids Day, celebrated at nearly 1,300 Ys across the country, aims to get more kids moving and learning, so they can keep up the habit all summer long.

Healthy Kids Day at the Nuber YMCA (Land and water activities)

Ages: 5-12 years
When: Saturday, April 18 from
Time: 1:00-3:00 p.m.
Celebrating those who made it on the 160 minute wall and encouraging a healthy start to summer!

    • Awards/Prizes for 160 minute wall finishers
    • Kids Fit Class (taught by kids to parents and other kids)
    • Youth Water Fitness Class
    • Pool games
    • Learn Water Safety Techniques

*Wear workout clothes, tennis shoes and bring swimwear.

Healthy Kids Day at the YMCA at Schilling Farms

Ages: 5-12 years
When: Saturday, April 25
Time: 9:00 a.m. -12:00 p.m.
Activities include A-Mazing obstacle course, active games, moon bounce, face painting, crafts, and more. Events are: basketball free throw contest for ages 5-12 years at 11:00 a.m. and Freeze Dance Contest at 11:30 a.m.
Free and open to the community.

Eating Healthy

Looking for a little help sticking with your goals of healthy eating?

Date/Time: April 11th 10:00-11:00 AM

The Olive Branch YMCA is proud to offer a program designed to help you learn how your personal health is affected by what you eat. At this one time seminar, we will discuss portion distortion, portion sizing activities and demonstrations, recipe modification and the benefits to eating locally. Please register in advance at the Welcome Center.

  • $5 registration cost
  • Information and instruction from our Certified Nutritionist, Candace Walker
  • Each participant will take home valuable and helpful information that will assist in forming better healthy eating habits on a daily basis.

Lifeguard Class

This course is designed to provide participants with the knowledge and skills necessary to become a lifeguard and professional rescuer. Upon successful completion of this course participants will be certified in ASHI (American Safety and Health Institute’s CPR Pro, Basic First Aid, Emergency Oxygen, and YMCA lifeguard). Minimum age to take the course is 16 and participants must successfully complete the prerequisites on the first night of class.

Sign up now; space is limited. Walk-ins are not accepted.

Registration form is on the back of this flyer. Check email regularly for updated course information. Refunds will only be given in the event the prerequisites are failed or a 48 hour notice is given before the first day of the course.

Be prepared for swim sessions and classroom on each day.

The last day will include a written and water test.

Youth Summer Basketball

Summer basketball is back at the Olive Branch Family YMCA!! The season will consist of 8 games, 7 practices, jersey (shorts not provided) and trophy. Teams will not practice the entire length of the season due to scheduling constraints with gym. Practice days and times will be determined once teams are formed and coaches assigned. Games will be played primarily on Saturdays. Schedules may be changed to accommodate other events at the Y. There is limited space available for each age group; so register today! Requests for coaches will be honored if possible but are not guaranteed.

• Practices and games will begin in June

• Registration ends May 1st

Ages: 4-16

Age Groups: 4-5, 6-7, 8-9, 10-11, 12-13 and 14-16

Registration Deadline: December 8th

Winter Swim Lessons

At the Y, we believe that the ability to swim is a critical life skill for every child, teen and adult. In group swim lessons, we use a variety of fun methods to help kids overcome fears, build confidence in the water and develop skills that last a lifetime. Qualified instructors meet kids at their own level, help families set achievable goals and celebrate success.

Parent/Child Classes:
Ages: 6 months- 3 years

Preschool and Youth Classes:
Ages: 3-5 years and 6 and up

Adult Classes:
Ages: 13 and up

Duration: 45 minutes long. (shrimp classes are 30 minutes long)

Sessions: All winter sessions will be Tuesday and Thursday and four weeks long.

Session 1:  January 6-29

Session 2:  February 3-26

Session 3:  April 7-30

Session 4:  May 5-28

Times/Groups:

5:00 p.m. class offerings – Shrimp, Polliwog, Guppy, Minnow or Fish

6:00 p.m. class offerings – Pike, Eel, or Ray

7:00 p.m. class offerings – Polliwog, Guppy, Minnow, Fish or Adult

*Parents must remain on the YMCA premises during swim lessons

Cost:
Parent/Child – $30 Members |  $50 Non-Members
Preschool/Youth – $60 Members | $100 Non-Members
Adult – $60 Members | $100 Non-Members

Middle School Afterschool Program

It can be hard to figure out your place in the world. As a young person, having the right guidance and support can make a real difference in figuring out who you are and what you can achieve. The Y is committed to nurturing children and teens for their success.

The Olive Branch Family YMCA is proud to partner with:

  • Center Hill Middle School
  • DeSoto Central Middle School
  • Lewisburg Middle School
  • Olive Branch Middle School
    Bus transportation picks up at these schools and brings them to the Olive Branch Family YMCA.

Get the personal attention, motivation, and expertise you need to achieve your health and fitness goals with the YMCA personal training. Our nationally certified YMCA personal trainers are here to serve you and help you reach your fitness goals. They have the knowledge and expertise to develop a safe and effective wellness program to best address your specific needs and interests.

Registration: Personal training sessions are available to YMCA members only, are by appointment only (with a 24-hour cancellation policy), and may be provided by YMCA staff trainers only (members may not bring their own personal trainers). See Wellness Center staff for personal training options and appointments.
