meditate

Meditation

Exercise For The Mind – Starting January 9th

The Olive Branch YMCA is pleased to offer a twelve week meditation practice class, led by Steve Blumberg. Steve is a retired psychiatric social worker, who practiced as a therapist for 30 years in hospital settings and an outpatient psychiatric office.    He has practiced and researched meditation for the past 25 years. This class will focus on meditation as an exercise for the mind, much as walking on a treadmill exercises the body. The class will include meditation sessions of gradually increasing duration, with interactive feedback and discussion on improving practice, including how to improve home practice. The class will give a psychological picture of what happens in meditation and how it is beneficial, but it is not intended as a therapy group.

  • Dress comfortably in typical gym attire
  • We will sit in chairs, as opposed to the floor.
  • Class will be first come first serve. There are 12 spots available.
  • Members are encouraged to bring a pen and small notebook, in case they want to take notes.

When: Tuesdays
Time: 6:30 p.m.
