YMCA Announces Membership Prices Based on Income

Many people would like to improve their health by joining the Y, but have not been able to afford the cost of membership. In an effort to encourage individual health and well-being, the YMCA of Memphis & the Mid-South introduces its new Income-Based Rate Scale. Known as the Open Doors Program, the new rate scale correlates membership rates to annual household income. With the support of the YMCA staff, the only challenge that remains for people with incomes of less than $60,000 is personal effort and commitment.

While the Y has always offered fee assistance for those with severely limited incomes, the Open Doors Program will welcome even more people to the Y family. By providing proof of annual household income (copy of 1040 & last 2 paycheck stubs), applicants can reduce their membership rates by as much as 60 percent, based on where they fall on the scale. The YMCA is a place where everyone can belong - no matter what income.
