About Us

Our Mission – To put Christian principles into practice through programs that build healthy spirit, mind and body for all.

Our Vision – Healthy living, youth development and social responsibility.

Our Values – Building character through the promotion of caring, respect, honesty and responsibility.

Our Goals

  • To have fun!
  • To build character by stressing our four character values: caring, respect, honesty and responsibility.
  • To help children develop self-awareness, confidence and leadership skills
  • To help children work and play together; recognizing the differences that make each person special
  • To enable children to develop their own minds and unique perspectives through programming that encourages imagination, creativity and expression
  • Development of life skills such as self-control, cooperative attitudes, communication skills and conflict resolution
  • To strengthen families by providing peace of mind while their children are in our care.

Program Philosophy

Our childcare programs are designed to encourage youth to grow in spirit, mind and body. The foundation of our character development emphasis is the four core values: caring, respect, honesty and responsibility. Our goal with character development is to help the children we serve see, understand and develop a set of values that will influence them in making healthy and positive decisions in their lives. Our program provides experiences that enhance and enrich each child’s cognitive, social, emotional and physical and creative development. Within the daily schedule, each child has the opportunity to create, to explore their environment, to develop problem-solving and personal interaction skills, and to develop concepts through self-discovery and counselor assisted activities. Opportunities for solitary play, as well as group activities are provided.

Before & After School Y Care

Through our Y Care program, the YMCA offers an afterschool program that takes learning from the classroom and turns it into fun! We offer an engaging curriculum that includes S.T.E.M. (Science, Engineering, Technology, Math), fitness, dramatic play, art enrichment, reading centers, homework help, and leadership skills. Our variety of activities helps students to explore their unique talents and interests. This curriculum is built around nurturing the potential of every child through teaching values and positive behaviors to make confident kids today for contributing and engaged adults tomorrow.

Morning Schedule

Children are welcomed to engage in a variety of activities providing physical activity or academic enrichment. Activities may include STEM centered learning, reading, free play in centers and learning stations, and organized gym play. To best serve each child, groups and activities are organized at age appropriate levels. Before dismissal, children help clean up materials. Breakfast is not included in Y Care, but is available if it is offered by the school where the program takes place.

Afternoon Schedule

Upon dismissal from the classroom, children are welcomed to Y Care. A healthy snack is offered and is determined by the standards set by HEPA (Healthy Eating and Physical Activity). Any dietary needs such as food allergies must be reported. Our staff will make every effort to accommodate these needs.

Children are encouraged to complete any homework assigned for the evening. Y Care counselors can assist, but do not offer tutoring. Upon completion of homework, children can choose to participate in a variety of activities until they are picked up for dismissal by an authorized adult.  These activities include S.T.E.M. (Science, Engineering, Technology, Math), fitness, dramatic play, art enrichment, reading centers, and leadership skills
