A Head Start program for early childhood development is offered at the Davis YMCA in Whitehaven. Head Start activities include age-appropriate cognitive and social development as well as overall health and nutrition.
Based at the Mason branch of the YMCA of Memphis and the Mid-South, the Multicultural Achievers program is a national college readiness program designed to help teens of color set and pursue high educational and career goals.
The YMCA Teen Achievers program, based at the Davis branch of the YMCA of Memphis and the Mid-South, is designed to help young African Americans develop a positive sense of self and set high education and career goals. African American professionals act as role models and volunteer leaders.
The Youth in Government (YIG) program provides high school and middle school students a unique hands-on experience with international, national and state issues. Students can participate in several statewide and local conferences, such as Model United Nations and Youth Legislature, hosted by the Tennessee YMCA.
Y-CAP redirects youth behavior by teaching values and rebuilding families. It’s a prevention and early intervention program for at-risk youth that uses a holistic approach to teach positive values and behaviors.
The Fayette County YMCA offers programs for youth, such as soccer and Summer Day Camp, in the Fayette County area.
