Kids & Teens / Summer Day Camp FAQs

What if my child can't swim?

All campers must take a swim test before they are allowed to enter the pool. Non-swimmers must stay in the shallow end of the pool and wear red necklaces. Beginner/intermediate swimmers are given yellow necklaces and may go out further than the non-swimmers. Proficient swimmers wear green necklaces and they are allowed in the deep end of the pool. This is recreational swimming only - NOT swim lessons. Counselors are in the water with the campers and along the edge of the pool for supervision. Lifeguards are also used.

What is your counselor to camper ratio?

It is a maximum of 1:20.

What do campers need to bring/wear?

Campers need to wear comfortable clothes that you don't mind getting wet and/or dirty and tennis shoes. On field trip days, they must wear their field trip shirt. They need to bring a swim suit and towel on swim days, sunscreen daily, and a daily sack lunch that doesn't need heating or refrigerating (some branches have access to a free lunch program - check for availability). All items should be brought in the camp bag provided.

What if we go on vacation—do we still have to pay?

You only pay for the weeks actually attended.
