TESTIMONIAL FROM JOSH ALLEN

JOSH BAPTIZES HIS SON IN THE RIC NUBER POOL |
Josh Allen, a cherished member of the Ric Nuber YMCA and pastor at Transform Church, recently shared a pivotal moment of his journey at the YMCA. His story begins on an ordinary day, June 8th, during his routine water fitness class with Mrs. Mattie. Little did he know, this day would mark a turning point in his life. As he completed his workout, he began to feel unusually winded and light-headed—a sensation that grew more concerning with each passing moment. Concerned, he sought assistance from the YMCA staff, and it became evident that something was seriously wrong. In that moment of uncertainty and fear, the swift response and care from the YMCA staff became Josh's lifeline. |

Josh emphasized the significance of the partnership between Transform Church and Ric Nuber YMCA. "From the very beginning, we have taken that partnership very seriously," he shared. Their collaboration extends beyond events and activities—it's about being present, offering support, and making a tangible difference in the lives of others. Transform Church & the Nuber Y have organized prayer circles in the group exercise room, devotional sessions after pool classes, and collaborated on various community events. And a moment that he will never forget is when Josh baptized his son in the olympic sized pool at the Nuber Y. "The work that they are doing with feeding kids and childcare are significant. I believe that is providing a very valuable resource to parents, but also to the kids. We are able to give them a service where they don't have to be home alone and their parents know they are being taken care of after school," Josh shared. Witnessing the YMCA's impactful initiatives firsthand has deepened Josh's admiration for their unwavering dedication to making a difference in the community. "The YMCA is really important to our community in a time where our community is really in need of support, and frankly, good news and good initiatives that are happening. I believe the Y is on the frontlines of helping in very tangible ways. Not just talking about change, but actually doing it." Josh expressed his heartfelt gratitude to the supporters of Ric Nuber YMCA for their unwavering commitment to the transformative work it embodies. Together, let us continue to nurture partnerships rooted in resilience, compassion, and community, enriching lives and creating a brighter future! |

A MESSAGE FROM OUR BOARD CHAIRLEAP INTO FEBRUARY
Here we are trudging through the heart of February. The days are short, and our schedules seem to be in a never-ending race against time. If we were to conduct a poll, I’m confident that the overwhelming response to the question of what people wish for the most would be more time. Time, after all, is the most precious commodity, and unlike many things in life, it’s not something that can be created or replenished—at least, not until now. This year, luck is on your side if you’ve been dreaming about having a few extra hours in your day. This is no ordinary February; it’s a Leap Year. For reasons that are above my pay grade, we have a rare opportunity to add an entire day to our lives. The possibilities are endless. Perhaps you will spend these extra minutes conquering your infinite to-do list, catching up on some much-needed sleep, or investing those extra hours in enhancing your health and well-being. Whatever you choose, I trust it will be a wise decision. The significance of February 29 is even more profound for me personally, as I happen to be born on this unique day. The odds of being one of the leapers who only get to celebrate their birthday once every four years are quite slim—1 in 1,461 to be exact. I can still recall the tears of disappointment as a little girl when I didn’t have a real birthday to celebrate like the other kids in my class. However, with age comes wisdom, and I’ve come to appreciate the brilliance of only having to claim one year of that age for every four. It’s a gift that keeps me forever young and saves me from having to fib about my age. Birthdays, for me, are not just a celebration but a time for reflection and a commitment to my personal health goals. As each year passes, I am increasingly grateful for my fitness abilities and the higher quality of life they bring. The community I have found at the YMCA plays an essential role in keeping me focused and motivated, even on days when working out is the last thing I feel like doing. Soon, I will head to the YMCA for what I fondly refer to as my birthday workout—a challenge I created to prove that I still have what it takes, or at least enough of it to count. Time, they say, waits for no one. So, I’m glad you have a little more of it this February. It’s up to you to decide how you will spend it, but I hope you will invest it in being the healthiest and happiest version of yourself. When we do that, time is always on our side.
Wishing you all the best,
